NAHC Coalition
On March 8, 2019, the Denver Indian Center hosted a presentation by Colleen Echo Hawk, who challenged Denver to join a national coalition to end Native Homelessness. She presented the model developed by the Chief Seattle Club in King County, Washington that provides housing and wraparound services to Al/AN individuals and families. On that day with Denver Councilwoman, Robin Kniech present, the group of Native leaders and allies formed the Native American Housing Circle’ (NAHC) Coalition.
The NAHC Coalition meets monthly to share information and learn about community resources. In 2024, the NAHC Coalitions hosted presentations by Brothers Redevelopment, Denver Metro Fair Housing, Denver Basic Income Project, It Takes a Village, Denver HOST, Denver Safe House, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Colorado Village Collaborative, Office of Governor Polis, Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, and Mercy Housing.
